At Giant Tiger, giving back starts at the local level. Across the country, our store owners and teams are proud to support the communities they call home, working alongside local organizations, schools, and families to make a meaningful difference.
Giant Tiger stores across Canada are once again rallying behind local schools in support of the Terry Fox Foundation, bringing a four-year national partnership to life in the communities they serve.
For the second consecutive year, more than 260 Giant Tiger stores will each provide $500 to support a matched local school and its Terry Fox fundraising efforts. This year’s commitment represents more than $130,000 in support,
Since the partnership began, Giant Tiger has contributed more than $412,000 to the Terry Fox Foundation through this community-focused initiative.
Local stores rally behind their communities
At the heart of the partnership are Giant Tiger store owners and teams who bring it to life in their own communities. Year after year, they rally alongside local schools, customers and families to support the Terry Fox Foundation and help make an impact close to home.
In 2025, three Giant Tiger stores stood out for their fundraising efforts: Trenton, Ont.; Saint John, N.B.; Newmarket, Ont.; Pembroke, Ont.; and Rockland, Ont.
For Sacha and the team at Giant Tiger Trenton, the top fundraising store in 2025, the achievement reflected the community coming together around a cause that has connected Canadians for generations.
“The Terry Fox Foundation is near and dear to so many families because cancer affects so many of us,” said Sacha, store owner of Giant Tiger Trenton, Ont. “Many of us grew up participating in the Terry Fox Run, and I think it’s amazing that schools continue this tradition and introduce Terry’s legacy to new generations. Our team loves showing their support, and we have some fun with it by creating a little friendly competition among our associates. Terry Fox is a Canadian legend, and it’s a cause our entire team is proud to rally behind.”
In Newmarket, Ont., Rob and his team have seen firsthand how the partnership can bring together Giant Tiger associates and local students in support of a shared goal.
“Terry Fox’s determination and commitment have always resonated with me. The fact that he never gave up is a powerful reminder that we can achieve incredible things when we keep moving forward,” said Rob, store owner of Giant Tiger Newmarket, Ont. “What makes his legacy even more meaningful is seeing it continue with younger generations. Every September, students learn about Terry, what he accomplished and how he inspired Canadians to come together for a common cause. Being able to support those students and see our entire team get involved is something that means a great deal to me.”
Sylvain and the team at Giant Tiger Rockland, Ont., also demonstrated their commitment to the cause, with fundraising efforts contributing to the collective impact made by Giant Tiger stores across the country.
“Supporting the Terry Fox Foundation is about our team coming together for a cause that has touched so many Canadians,” said Sylvain, store owner of Giant Tiger Rockland, Ont. “Giving back to our local community means being there for the people who are always there for us. Our customers, local schools, local food bank, families and organizations are a big part of who we are as a local Giant Tiger store. We are proud to be part of it and proud to give back to the community that supports us every day. That’s Giant Tiger!”
While these three stores led the way in fundraising, they represent a much bigger story taking place in Giant Tiger communities across Canada. From matching school donations to supporting students as they participate in their Terry Fox School Runs, local store teams are helping turn a national partnership into meaningful action at the community level.
