This year, Giant Tiger is proud to celebrate five years of partnership with Indspire in support of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
To continue to recognize this important initiative, we’ve launched a new Orange Shirt featuring an original design by Anishinaabe artist and visual storyteller Emily Kewageshig of Saugeen First Nation No. 29. Inspired by Anishinaabe teachings, Emily’s design explores the interconnectedness of all living beings and reflects themes of balance, renewal and the cycles of life.
The shirt is available now at select Giant Tiger stores and online at GiantTiger.com, with 100% of profits donated to Indspire in support of the new Giant Tiger Learning from the Past Bursary. The bursary will support Indigenous post-secondary students pursuing studies in Indigenous Studies and Languages.
This year’s design also holds a special personal meaning for Emily.
“The art piece that’s being used for the shirts is actually something that I did when I was maybe 10, 11 years old with my dad,” said Emily Kewageshig. “I remember sitting at the kitchen table one evening with my dad, and we came up with this design together, and we titled it, ‘Wasa Nabin, Look Ahead.’”
Over the past five years, the Orange Shirt campaign has raised more than $1.8 million for Indspire, helping support Indigenous students while encouraging meaningful conversations about truth and reconciliation.
Giant Tiger is proud to continue working alongside Indspire to support programs that help Indigenous students pursue their educational goals and become the leaders of tomorrow.
